The late Steve Jobs, entrepreneur and business magnate, once said, “Great things in business are never done by one person, they’re done by a team of people”. Well, at Private Equity Administrators, we may not be a multi-billion dollar universal brand like Apple but that same philosophy applies to businesses of any scale.
We naturally believe that we ‘do’ team pretty well, but we love the idea of shutting down our computers, switching off the office lights and going in search of new revelations on how to further improve our teamwork capability. So, on 22 June we’ll be in a neutral location where we’ll leave ourselves at the mercy of our team-building facilitator.
It’s now a ‘given’ that we can all achieve more by working with others than we can by working alone. Our team members will be encouraged to achieve stronger levels of self-awareness of their own working styles and preferences and the impact these have on how we function together.
Our goal is productive collaboration and we’re going to have plenty of fun along the way. We believe that there is huge value in enhancing respect for one another’s strengths in new and different ways.
But when the mufti clothes are packed away and the dust has settled on the PEA away day, what will have changed? Well, the future starts on Monday 25 June, when the value of the exercise will be rolled out for all to see. We have no doubt that the investment will impact in a very tangible way, none more so than for our clients who rightly expect consistently high standards from our team every day.
The former CEO of Apple also issued a challenge to us all. “Be a yardstick of quality. Some people aren’t used to an environment where excellence is expected.” Whenever and wherever we can improve our systems, our service, and our communication, we’re committed to doing it.
